  • Length of course: 3 terms. Autumn (10 Weeks), Spring (10 Weeks), Summer (9 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 60
  • Start date: 10 October 2019
  • Description:

The choir is a well established large four part group (SATB) that sings a wide range of large and small scale pieces. Most recently this has consisted of Christmas music by Charpentier, spirituals and folk songs, and excerpts from oratorios, operas and musicals (eg by Handel, Gershwin and Bernstein). Music is either hired by us from the library or provided in sheet-music form. A small voluntary contribution is sometimes requested to offset these minimal costs. Most terms end with a public concert but there are also informal events, opportunities to just sing for pleasure, and exercises to teach singing techniques. The choir has a very supportive following who attend its concerts and this means that regular attendance is important. Whilst being able to read music is not essential you should be able to learn your part (sometimes recordings can be provided) and sing it in tune.
