This is a play-reading course, based on the life of Queen Victoria as portrayed in the plays of Laurence Housman. There are a number of collections of Housman's plays, but in Victoria Regina , Queen's Progress , and Happy and Glorious , ten of the plays are in all three collections. A further five plays are common to the collections entitled Happy & Glorious, Palace Scenes , and Golden Sovereign . The number of parts in the plays vary from two (2 plays) to 16 (1 play), but most of the plays have six or fewer characters. Course participants should obtain one copy from both collections. Book stalls often have second-hand copies.
