Mainly Madrigals (MUS 08)

  • Day and time: Tuesday 11:00 - 12:30
    Weekly
  • Length of course: 2 terms. Autumn (10 Weeks), Spring (10 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 10
  • Start date: 11 October 2016
  • Description:

This group meets to sing madrigals (unaccompanied music of 16th and 17th centuries), mostly English. You must have some ability to read music. We already have a large repertoire, but new members are welcome. We will always be learning new pieces, and you can familiarise yourself at your own pace with those already learnt. As we have covered a lot of what is in the two books we have been using, participants must be willing to print off copies from other sources eg choralwiki on a regular basis. Those without this facility will have copies provided. This year we may also start on a new book of madrigals. The group leader will tell you what books you need before the start of the course. Although we meet primarily for the joy of singing together, we occasionally perform at events such as garden parties and fund-raising events.

  • Format: Singing together
