    Weekly
  • Length of course: 2 terms. Autumn (10 Weeks), Spring (10 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 10
  • Start date: 11 October 2016
  • Description:

If your musical taste is pop/folk/roots/rock/blues, then this course may be right for you. We are a mixed group who meet each week to sing together, primarily for our own enjoyment. Lyrics and chords are projected onto a screen and we learn the songs by ear, sometimes using video to help reinforce them. Many of the songs will be familiar and we explore simple rhythms and harmonies. It is a practical, fun way of learning interesting songs, new and old, but without the formality of a choir. We have online access to a repository of over 400 songs and, where possible, to an audio recording or a live performance video of the song. Although primarily a singing group, some of us play an acoustic instrument (it helps to have reached a level beyond beginners') but it is optional. If you can play a short solo or add percussion then you are especially welcome. Songs are usually led by the course leader, although sometimes other members of the group will present a song, but there is no pressure to do so.
