This course aims to answer all the questions you might have about stars. Where do they come from, what are they, how long do they live, what happens to them? To answer these, and many other questions, you will learn about the way astronomers and physicists themselves found the answers, the techniques they used, and the theories they have developed to explain what they observe. We will range over a wide slice of physics. from the first few minutes of creation to the end of all things. from the nucleus of an atom to the entire universe. It is an exciting ride, so hold onto your hat! The course is lavishly illustrated, using the many wonderful images available from modern telescopes. It is largely descriptive, but will include the terms and tools actually used by astronomers, particularly in dealing with the astronomical numbers involved!
