  • Length of course: 3 terms. Autumn (5 Weeks), Spring (5 Weeks), Summer (4 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 10
  • Start date: 12 October 2016
  • Description:

This group (now in its fifth year) meeting fortnightly, will continue to explore and discuss the place of women, how it has changed, their achievements and what has held them back, in a wide range of different settings. Specific topics will depend on the interests of the members and what they can offer. Members take in turns to research and introduce a subject, although this is not an absolute requirement. Topics from last year included Margaret Sanger, Gloria Steinam, Betty Freidan, Wangari Maathai, Artemisia Gentilesehi, Aung San Suu Kyi, Georgia Okeeffe, the Bletchley Girls and Poverty, Education and Gender in Kenya. If the group desires, Summer Term outings can be organised. Last year's summer outings included Beth Chatto, Girton College and Challis Trust. A Christmas lunch and a summer lunch is held to review and discuss the topics presented and is held at one of the members' homes.
