  • Description:

Pilates is a form of exercise which takes its name from Joseph Pilates, a German man who grew up with various health problems but developed an exercise regime which returned him to full health. The original 34 classic exercises have been broken down so that they are accessible to the ‘average’ person to enable a workout for the whole body which is safe and effective. This aim of the class is to help you improve your posture, move more easily and increase your abdominal (core) strength. Based on the ABCs of Pilates, Alignment, Breathing and Coordination you will start the exercises in a variety of different positions: lying down, kneeling on all fours, lying on your side or front and standing. You will be required to complete a confidential Pilates questionnaire form which will provide me with details of your medical and exercise history, and if necessary, you may need to obtain permission from your GP to attend. Wear comfortable clothing which will allow you to move and stretch easily. We normally remove our shoes to allow your feet make better contact with the ground.. Please bring an exercise mat and two or three paperback books to use as support for your head– all other equipment will be provided.
