  • Description:

The history of humankind over the last several thousand years has, to a large extent, depended on the use and exploitation of the horse. Once the world’s cleverest biped met one of the world’s fastest animals in Central Asia, history changed forever. This course is a series of four stand-alone talks about different aspects of the interaction between horse and man in history and no previous knowledge of hors is necessary.

Week 1 History of horse riding from earliest times up to the present day

Week 2 Tools of the trade - a look at the historical history of bridles, bits, saddles and other tack used by riders throughout time

Week 3: Operation Cowboy - the rescue of the Lippizaner mares from behind German lines in the closing days of World War II

Week 4: Horses throughout the world - a look at the history of some of the many horse breeds throughout the world
