Digital Art - A Disruptive Medium (ART 05)

  • Day and time: Tuesday 11:30 - 12:30
    Weekly
  • Length of course: 1 term. Autumn (9 Weeks)
  • Number of places: 16
  • Start date: 18 October 2016
  • Description:

This course provides an extension of last year’s digital (representational and abstract) art course but it is also suitable for complete beginners as the basics will be covered again and developed one-on-one. Course members will need to bring along an Apple iPad. Digital art is immediately accessible to those with or without experience of other media and in that sense is seen by some as ‘disruptive’. In certain respects it breaks the link with traditional art institutions and societies, some of which ban digital art. The course will include one or more sessions with guest artists working in similarly disruptive formats. Links with digital and traditional musical forms will be the subject of another session. The objective of the course is to engender a new sense of excitement in making art while working within a friendly engaged group.

  • Format: Some instruction and topic selection but mainly practical artwork by course members
