  • Number of places: 10
  • Start date: 13 October 2016
  • Description:

The Rock Climbing group has now run successfully for a number of years. Mainly we climb at Big Rock in Milton Keynes. Some of us also climb outdoors in the Peak District and other mountain areas in the UK and in Spain and France. We are a friendly open group, working together and helping each other. We meet at a Cambridge Park and Ride Car Park, and car share for the 45 minute drive to Milton Keynes. We share the cost of petrol and there is an entry charge at Big Rock. We welcome newcomers and run coaching sessions, under the supervision of qualified climbers. Some of us didn’t start to climb until our 50‘s and 60’s. Others climbed when younger and have come back to it. This has been made possible and very enjoyable by using the Big Rock Climbing wall which is brilliant for both beginners and experienced to learn and develop in a reasonably safe environment. We are happy to accept new climbers with little experience if they have a basic level of fitness. Generally, we have found that with training, most people find learning to climb safely is straight forward, however, we reserve the right to exclude people if we are not confident that they can climb safely and safeguard others.

  • Format: Initially taught, then we work as a group
