  • Description:

Four lectures to give an overview of the once great Spanish Empire: - Caliphs lead Moors and Berbers to create much of the beauty in Al Andalus that we enjoy today. Islam was slowly displaced as The Reconquista saw Christendom prevail. - Columbus proselytised the opportunities in the New World, after Portugal and Spain conquered the Oceans of the World. - Conquistadores steal Gold and Silver treasures as they destroy the Aztecs and the Incas. For two hundred years the Treasure Fleets would bring untold wealth to Spain. - Cuba is lost to the USA in 1898, ending 400 years of Spanish conquests in the Americas. Their huge wealth had not been used to build modern infrastructure and Spain descended into Civil War.
